A woman was arrested Friday for allegedly attacking another woman in a parking structure at the Glendale Fashion Center earlier this week.
The unprovoked crime occurred about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the lower-level parking structure at the mall in the 200 block of North Glendale Avenue, police said.
Margarida Eshan, 33, of Glendale was arrested about 2 a.m. Friday near the crime scene, said Glendale police Sgt. Christian Hauptmann.
Officers were called to the location by a security guard who recognized the suspect from video of the attack, which had been released by authorities, Hauptmann said.
Eshan was booked on suspicion of battery, possession of a controlled substance and identity theft and was being held on $30,000 bail, Hauptmann said. She also was held on outstanding warrants for battery and credit card fraud, Hauptmann said.
Police earlier released a statement describing the crime.
“The suspect was standing next to several bags and appeared to be smoking narcotics when the victim walked by,” the police statement said. “The suspect quickly walked up to the victim and struck her in the side of the head with (the suspect’s) right hand.”
The woman kept walking and the suspect walked away from her, police said.
