A brush fire that erupted Monday between two transmission towers in Mead Valley was quickly stopped by crews, burning well under an acre and not damaging the facilities.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 11:45 a.m. in the area of Homestead and Salter roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Flames were initially threatening the radio towers, and a fire captain requested that Cal Fire aircraft make runs on the brusher. But that request was canceled minutes later when crews successfully knocked down the flames, according to officials at the scene.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
