Police were searching for the hit-and-run driver in Santa Ana who collided Saturday with another vehicle, overturning it and leaving the driver trapped, where he later died.
The crash occurred about 2:10 a.m. at the intersection of Main and 14th streets, according to the Santa Ana police.
The vehicle in which the driver died was a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. The hit-and-run motorist was driving a 2021 Dodge Charger, police said.
The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
According to police, the Charger was heading north on Main when it hit the Colorado at the intersection. The Charger was found abandoned by responding officers. Witnesses said the hit-and-run driver got into a red SUV.
The man was described as Hispanic, between 30 and 35 years old, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing an estimated 200 pounds, police said.
