A 40-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle careened into a tree in Murrieta, authorities said Wednesday.

Andrew Robles of Murrieta was fatally injured at about 6 p.m. Tuesday on Murrieta Hot Springs Road, just east of Town View Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said Robles apparently lost control of his bike and impacted the tree, though the circumstances were still under investigation. Additional details were expected to be released Wednesday afternoon.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue crews arrived minutes after the crash and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Several lanes on Murrieta Hot Springs were shut down for about 90 minutes while a preliminary investigation was conducted and the wreckage was removed.
