Three teenage boys were shot during an attack in east Corona Thursday, leaving one dead and the other two seriously wounded.
The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. in the 1300 block of Circle City Drive, near East Sixth Street and Interstate 15, according to the Corona Police Department.
Cpl. Tobias Kouroubacalis said the victims, whose names were not disclosed, were a 13-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy — all from Corona.
“Preliminary information indicates the shooting is an isolated event, and there is no ongoing threat to the public,” the police spokesman said, without disclosing any further details.
The area where the attack occurred is mostly comprised of apartment complexes. It was not immediately clear whether all of the boys resided there.
Kouroubacalis said the youths were taken to several different hospitals for treatment, but the 16-year-old died soon afterward.
