Police in Orange were investigating two separate, fatal traffic accidents Saturday.

The first occurred at about 9:50 p.m. Friday, when a Honda Civic containing a man and a woman was stopped at a red light at Collins Avenue preparing to turn north onto Glassell Street. An older model Dodge Ram rear-ended the Civic, causing minor injuries to its two occupants but resulting in a fatal injury to the driver of the truck, who died at a hospital.

Police said it was unknown at this time if drugs and/or alcohol contributed to the collision.

At 10:29 p.m. Friday, a separate fatal collision occurred at Tustin Street and Taft Avenue. A Porsche entered the intersection to turn south on Tustin when a Kia Sol going north on Tustin ran a red light and the two vehicles collided, according to the Orange Police Department.

The man driving the Porsche was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man driving the Kia was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

Police said drugs are suspected to be a factor for the driver of the Kia and the investigation is ongoing. The department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to investigate both collisions. Anyone with information about either crash is encouraged to call the Orange Police Department at 714-744-7444.
