A man was found unresponsive in a University City hotel room and transported to a hospital Saturday.
A call from the Sheraton Universal hotel at 333 Universal Hollywood Drive was received at 4:21 p.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The man had left a handwritten note warning that there was potentially hazardous material in the room, Humphrey said. He was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.

The ninth floor of the Sheraton was isolated and the other guests were told to shelter in place, Humphrey said.
An LAFD Hazardous Materials team was called to the hotel and identified the material, but did not specify what it was. No other people were affected by the substance, Humphrey said.
The scene was taken under control by Los Angeles police and the L.A. County Health Hazmat, which along with a private vendor were cleaning up the material, he said.
