A father and son found dead in Chatsworth were identified by authorities Wednesday, as the investigation continued into what police said could be a murder-suicide.

Police were called at about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday to the 21000 block of Plummer Street near De Soto Avenue regarding a possible suicide, Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton of the Los Angeles Police Department told reporters.

Jose Romo Guerra, 35, and Michael Romo Sandoval, 10, both of Canoga Park, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, which reported that the pair were father and son. Autopsies were pending.

“The deceased … were discovered by family members inside a vehicle …,” police said in a statement Wednesday afternoon. “Both had been reported missing by family members earlier that day (Tuesday) and relatives located the vehicle parked along the curb at 21000 Plummer St. with both inside.

“The vehicle had to be forced open and both father and son removed from the rear seat, where they were evaluated by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics,” police said. “Detectives are investigating the likelihood of a murder/suicide and do not believe there are any outstanding suspects.”

Police did not say how the victims died and no weapons were recovered at the scene. The investigation was continuing.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at 818-374-9550 or 877-LAPD-247. Tipsters may also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS or use the website www.lacrimestoppers.org .
