A suspect in a shooting in Compton was taken into custody Thursday following a barricade.
The law enforcement personnel were sent to the 100 block of Acacia Avenue about 7:30 a.m. on an assault with a deadly weapon call, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
A person who had been shot was taken to a hospital, and a suspect in the shooting fired at deputies but did not wound them. A containment of the area was established, and a SWAT team was sent to the scene.
About 8:15 a.m., a fire was reported in the apartment where the suspect was barricaded, and some people were evacuated from the building as the standoff continued.
About half an hour afterward, the suspect was taken into custody, the sheriff’s department reported. Firefighters then began working to extinguish the flames.
