A gang member suspected of gunning down a 33-year-old Riverside man was being held without bail Monday.

Jesse Joshua Duran, 23, of Riverside, was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside Thursday on suspicion of murder, being a felon in possession of a gun and parole violations.

According to Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback, on the afternoon of June 21, Duran and another man, whose identity has not been confirmed, were driving through the 8500 block of Hickory Lane, near Heidi Road, when they stopped near where Bryan Davis was standing outside a home.

“At some point during the interaction, one of the men produced a handgun and fatally shot the victim,” Railsback said, adding that Davis suffered “multiple” gunshot wounds. “Both men got back into the vehicle and fled.”

Witnesses called 911, and paramedics reached the location minutes later, pronouncing Davis dead at the scene.

According to Railsback, Robbery-Homicide Unit detectives developed leads over the ensuing weeks that pointed to Duran, a convicted felon, as one of the alleged perpetrators.

He was tracked down and taken into custody without incident Thursday afternoon on Alessandro Boulevard, near Mission Grove Parkway.

A specific motive for the alleged attack was not disclosed, and details on Duran’s prior convictions were not available.

Anyone with information about the deadly shooting was asked to contact detectives at 951-353-7105, or email RPDTips@riversideCA.gov.
