A man was shot to death Saturday in Lancaster and the shooter remains on the loose.

The shooting happened at 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of 20th Street West and Lancaster Boulevard, according to Deputy Grace Medrano of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Witnesses driving south on 20th Street West told investigators they saw the victim driving the truck, heard gunshots and saw the victim’s driver-side window shatter, said sheriff’s Deputy Alejandra Parra.

Video from the scene showed four bullet holes in the shattered side window of the white Chevrolet Silverado pickup, which was up against the sign and flowers in front of the Westwood Park apartments.

“The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased,” Parra said.

His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

There was no description of the suspect or their vehicle and no weapon was recovered, she said.

Anyone with information was asked to call homicide detectives at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 (TIPS).
