A 78-year-old man was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of shooting a family member in Norco.

Gary Roy Haneline was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of assault with a firearm, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Haneline was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside and being held on $25,000 bail.

According to the department, deputies responded at around 11 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting in the 4400 block of Valley View Avenue and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The man, whose name was withheld, was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Haneline was arrested at the home shortly afterward as the alleged gunman.

The Jurupa Valley’s sheriff’s station determined that the shooting was a result of a family dispute between the residents.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting was asked to call Investigator Morgan from the Jurupa Valley station at 951-955-2600.
