A man was fatally hit by a vehicle Thursday in Long Beach.
The man was struck about 12:40 a.m. in the 3300 block of South Street and died at the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Information on his identity was not immediately available.
“Through their preliminary investigation, officers determined the pedestrian was walking northbound across South Street, outside of a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a Honda that was being driven by an adult resident of the city of Lakewood,” police said in a statement.
“The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation,” police said. “At this time, neither speed nor distracted or impaired driving are believed to be contributing factors in the collision.”
