A man was arrested for allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend and possessing an unregistered firearm, the Banning Police Department announced Saturday.

Officers responded to a report of a vandalism incident in the 1500 block of Valley Drive at about 1 p.m. on Aug. 28. They spoke with a woman who reported having multiple unwanted contacts with her ex-boyfriend, Elijah Tremaine Johnson, 20, of Beaumont, police said.

The woman said some of those contacts involved Johnson making criminal threats and causing property damage.

Officers were able to locate Johnson at his home in Beaumont and arrested him. After the execution of a search warrant at his residence, officers allegedly found an unregistered Polymer 80mm handgun and a 30-round high capacity magazine.

Johnson was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on suspicion of stalking, criminal threats, possession of an unregistered firearm and high capacity magazine, and vandalism.
