Around 4 p.m. Thursday, a shooting occurred on the intersection of Cholla Drive and Fourth Street, according to Deputy Steven Shaw from the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

At the time of the shooting, students were leaving the high school, Shaw said. The school and a recreation center were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
