A fire damaged a vacant duplex in the Pico-Union area Friday, but no one was hurt.

Firefighters sent to the 1600 block of West 20th Street at 12:48 p.m. extinguished the flames in the two-story building in 24 minutes, said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“The fire appeared to have started on the second floor of the vacant structure and spread to the attic,” Prange said in a statement.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
