Two gang members pleaded guilty Tuesday and were immediately sentenced to state prison for leading police on a chase and carrying out a gang-related shooting in La Habra that left a man fighting for his life.
Police were called at 7:49 p.m. July 3 to the intersection of Walnut Street and First Avenue regarding a shots fired call. When officers arrived they found the victim, who is in his early 30s, suffering from a gunshot wound and rushed him to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Kareem Roman, 25, pleaded guilty to attempted murder, shooting at a vehicle and leading police on a chase, all felonies. He also admitted sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a gun and being a gang member vicariously discharging a gun causing great bodily injury and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Cesar Alatorre, 20, pleaded guilty to attempted murder, shooting at a vehicle and admitted sentencing enhancements for being a gang member vicariously discharging a gun causing great bodily injury. Alatorre was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
