The coroner’s office has deferred a determination of the cause of death for a man found unresponsive by hikers in the Temescal Canyon area in Pacific Palisades and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said Monday.
He was identified as 52-year-old John McNabb and the cause of his death was deferred pending additional investigation, the coroner’s office said.
The discovery was made at 12:58 p.m. Saturday at 1598 Bienveneda Ave., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange.
“Dispatchers provided instructions to multiple bystanders who took turns providing CPR,” Prange said. “After firefighters/paramedics arrived, they took over resuscitative measures for approximately 20 minutes, but sadly, the man was beyond medical help and declared dead at the scene.”
