A one-story building in the back of a Mid-City church’s property caught fire Tuesday evening, but firefighters extinguished the flames in about 25 minutes.
The fire broke out about 7:30 p.m. in the 8900 block of Cattaraugus Avenue, across from Hamilton High School, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Forty-nine firefighters extinguished the flames “with minimal fire extension/smoke damage” to the adjacent Palms Westminster Presbyterian Church, and no injuries were reported, Humphrey said.
The fire’s cause was being investigated, and further information was not released.
