The Board of Supervisors Tuesday renewed a $20,000 reward in hopes of tracking down the killer of a man whose body was discovered by two riders on horseback on the Altadena Crest Trail in 2013.
Supervisor Michael Antonovich recommended extending the reward — which was set to expire Thursday — in the murder of 26-year-old Marcus Nieto.

Nieto was last seen alive at his home on Feb. 15, 2013. Investigators said he went to visit a friend in Pomona but may have returned to the Covina/Azusa area at some point. His body was found the next day.
The coroner’s office, which ruled the death a homicide, has not revealed the cause of death. Law enforcement officials have placed a security hold on the case.
Anyone with information was asked to call sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Gray or Detective David Gunner at (323) 890-5500.
