The chief of the Burbank Fire Department announced Tuesday that he will retire from his current post and become fire chief at the Hollywood-Burbank Airport.
Tom Lenahan’s retirement from the BFD will be effective on Dec. 28, and he will assume his new duties the following month.
“Chief Lenahan has been … instrumental in achieving both a Class 1 rating for the Burbank Fire Department along with becoming an internationally accredited agency, which means the department is a highly elite team,” said Burbank City Manager Ron Davis.
Lenahan began his career as a Burbank firefighter in 1987 and was named chief in 2013. Details on a possible successor were not immediately available.
