Metro said Thursday that while it is working to connect the Purple Line extension to the terminus at the Wilshire/Western station, some nearby streets will see extended lane reductions and Wilshire Boulevard will be closed in the area over 14 weekends.

Starting Friday and lasting through spring of 2018, lanes around the station will be closed and other alternations will be made. The changes include:

— Wilshire Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in each direction between Western Avenue and St. Andrews Place.

— Left turns will be restricted on Wilshire Boulevard at Western Avenue.

— Extended sidewalk closures between Manhattan Place and Western Avenue will be required.

There will also be 14 full weekend closures of Wilshire Boulevard from Manhattan Place to Western Avenue, not including the holiday weekends of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, although it will remain open to through traffic during the week. Local access on Wilshire for businesses and residents will be maintained, and buses will follow detoured traffic routes.

A map of the detour and other information on the bus routes can be found at metro.net/service/advisories/bus.
