There’s a new “Poppy” in the Bush family.
But despite the moniker being a presidential nickname, some people aren’t amused.
Jenna Bush Hager — younger daughter of First Lady Laura and former President George W. Bush — gave birth to her second daughter and she and her husband, Henry, named the baby Poppy Louise.
That triggered social media snark:

“Poppy” is a nickname for her grandfather — former President George H.W. Bush. She may be returning the favor, since she was named after her maternal grandmother, Jenna Hawkins Welch.
Current politics also came into play (but with a gender booboo):

“We are proud to name her after a man we so adore,” Henry told “Today.”
NBC noted that Poppy was born exactly a year after with another “Today” show baby — Savannah Guthrie’s daughter Vale. Jenna is an occasional correspondent for the network’s news shows.
