The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office says Cathriona White, a girlfriend of Jim Carrey whose death last week is a suspected suicide, was married at the time of her death.
People magazine identified the husband as Mark Burton and said White’s stepmother and sister would take her body back to Ireland.
A “well-placed source close to Carrey” said White was separated from her husband and was planning a divorce in December, the paper reported. It also said she was involved in a form of Scientology therapy called Survival Rundown, which has been depicted as “very destabilizing.”
But the same report said: “There is no way that Jim would have taken her out to public places if he thought she was married. As far as Jim was concerned, Cat was separated from her husband…. When people are separated, they date or do whatever they need to do.”
The Medical Examiner’s Office has concluded an autopsy on the aspiring actress and expects results of a toxicological exam back between eight and 12 weeks.
“It came in as a suicide, but we’re not noting it as such yet until we can confirm what was in her system,” the Medical Examiner official was quoted as saying.
Carrey, who has 15.2 million followers on Twitter, has not posted to his account since Sept. 16.
But he’s posted her photos.
