As Lamar Odom continues his recovery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, thanked fans Tuesday for the support they have shown during Odom’s weeklong hospitalization following his collapse at a Nevada brothel.
“This past week has been incredibly difficult,” Kardashian wrote on her website. “I am so thankful to family, friends and fans who have sent nothing but prayers and well-wishes to Lamar. I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work.

“Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made. You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure. Thank you for your continued support. God is great!!!”
The posting was the first public comment by Kardashian since Odom was hospitalized one week ago, after he was found unconscious at the Love Ranch South brothel in Crystal, Nevada, north of Las Vegas. Brothel employees who called 911 said the 35-year-old former NBA star had been using cocaine and taking herbal Viagra substitutes.
Odom was flown from Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas to Los Angeles Monday night, and he was admitted to Cedars-Sinai.
Various media reports have indicated that Odom, despite making a stunning rebound from an apparent life-threatening condition, is undergoing dialysis and experiencing kidney failure. TMZ.com reported that Odom’s kidneys are “shot,” and he must undergo six hours of dialysis a day, but he may ultimately need a transplant.
Kardashian has been at Odom’s bedside since last week. She and Odom signed divorce papers earlier this year, but since the paperwork has not yet been finalized by the court, the couple are technically still married.
