Janet Jackson tumor rumor: Surgery could end career, doc says

RadarOnline.com has a history of debunking celebrity hoaxes, so it sounds bad when the tabloid site suggests Janet Jackson has a tumor that could be cancerous.

“Doctors found a growth on Janet’s vocal cords that could be serious,” the site said Wednesday, quoting a source close to the singer. “It’s a medical condition that has to be taken care of immediately.”

Having already announced a break in her Unbreakable World Tour, the Grammy winner is seen in jeopardy.

“God forbid that this should be cancer of the larynx,” Dr. Stuart Fischer told Radar. “That would abruptly end her ability to ever perform again. … Surgery would be very complex, and followed by months of radiation treatment.”
