Supermodel Cindy Crawford turns 50 on Feb. 20, but contrary to a magazine article (and social media chatter), she’s not retiring from the beauty biz.

The United Airlines magazine Rhapsody quoted Crawford as saying: “I’m sure I’ll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore.”

But Monday morning, she posted to Instagram a note saying: “Every year, I tell my kids I’m retiring. It’s a running joke in our family. And yet every year, opportunities pop up that really excite me.”

She said she’s not making any final statements and “not all headlines tell the whole story! I have loved being part of the fashion industry for the past 30 years — and if that time has taught me anything, it’s this: never say never.”

Huffington Post, among many media outlets, jumped the gun on the retirement news, saying: “Our hearts are just about broken as Crawford says she will ‘maybe not say goodbye, but move on; from her epic modeling career.”

Crawford, who was married to Richard Gere in the early 1990s, quit full-time modeling in 2000, however. She’s been busy with books and beauty products.
