Johnny Depp’s wife won’t “endure the relentless attacks and outright lies” she’s been subjected to since she filed for divorce and obtained a restraining order against the film star, and thus her attorneys disclosed Tuesday she has provided police with statements she initially withheld while trying to protect Depp’s career.

In a statement released to the media, attorneys Samantha Spector and Joseph Koenig insisted that Heard suffered “years of physical and psychological abuse” by Depp.

Police responded to a report of an altercation at the couple’s home on May 21, but “the officers determined that a crime did not occur,” LAPD Officer Drake Madison said last week. Heard apparently declined to the give the officers a statement when they responded.

That decision was made “in an attempt to protect her privacy and Johnny’s career,” according to Spector and Koenig.

“Johnny’s team has forced Amber to give a statement to the LAPD to set the record straight as the true facts, as she cannot continue to leave herself open to the vicious false and malicious allegations that have infected the media,” according to the statement.

“… Amber can no longer endure the relentless attacks and outright lies launched against her character in the Court of Public Opinion since the tragic events of May 21st. With her statement, Amber hopes to give the LAPD the opportunity to conduct an accurate and complete investigation into the events of that evening and before. If that occurs, and the truth is revealed, there is no doubt that Amber’s claims will be substantiated beyond any reasonable doubt, and hopefully Johnny will get the help that he so desperately needs.”

Heard filed for divorce from Depp on May 23, and on Friday, she went to court to obtain a restraining order, requiring Depp to stay at least 100 yards from her, her home, car and workplace.

Depp’s attorney, Laura Wasser, declined to comment.

A representative for the actor told E! News last week: “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

The restraining order is good until June 17, when Moor is scheduled to decide whether to extend it.

Depp, 52, and Heard, 30, met on the set of “The Rum Diary” and were married in February 2015. It’s Depp’s second marriage.
