The baby and beauty products company founded by actress Jessica Alba has become the newest signatory to SAG-AFTRA’s commercials contracts, the union announced Wednesday evening.
“I am thrilled that The Honest Company has chosen to provide our members with the protection of a SAG-AFTRA contract,” union President Gabrielle Carteris said. “This partnership is the result of meaningful collaboration between SAG-AFTRA and Honest and helps sustain and build a flourishing industry for performers and employers.”
Alba wrote on her Facebook page Wednesday night that her company had “been in talks with SAG-AFTRA since last week” and it had “always (been) our intent” to “become a SAG signatory.”
“As an actress, I support fair pay and working conditions for all actors and value SAG and the protections it’s provided me throughout my career,” Alba wrote. “Part of scaling our business is thinking ahead to our long-term marketing strategy, and partnering with SAG has always been a natural next step in our evolution. I’m looking forward to a productive partnership.”
Carteris praised Alba “for recognizing that the protections of a strong union contract are crucial to all workers.”
“She is a model of ethical leadership and we’re proud to move forward together,” Carteris said.
