Drake and Cardi B will battle for top honors at Tuesday evening’s presentation of the American Music Awards, with each carrying a leading eight nominations into the event at the Microsoft Theater.

Drake is among the nominees for artist of the year, competing with Imagine Dragons, Post Malone, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. Cardi B, meanwhile, is up for new artist of the year, along with Camila Cabello, Khalid, Dua Lipa and XXXTentacion.

Drake and Cardi B will compete head-to-head in the favorite music video category. Drake is nominated for “God’s Plan,” while Cardi B is nominated for “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves).” Camila Cabello and Young Thug round out the category with their video, “Havana.” Drake and Cardi B are also nominated for favorite rap/hip-hop artist and favorite rap/hip-hop song, along with Post Malone in both categories.

The awards show, televised on ABC, will feature an array of musical performances, including an opening performance by Taylor Swift. Mariah Carey will also perform, debuting her song “With You,” the first single from her new album.

Panic! At the Disco will perform “Bohemian Rhapsody” in a tribute to famed British rock band Queen, while Gladys Knight, Ledisi, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin and CeCe Winans will team up for a tribute to the late Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.

Also among those set to perform are Carrie Underwood, Ciara, Missy Elliott, Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lopez, Shawn Mendes, Twenty One Pilots, Benny Blanco, Halsey, Khalid, Camila Cabello and Cardi B.

Emmy-nominated actress Tracee Ellis Ross will return to host and executive produce the show. Ross, the daughter of music legend Diana Ross, hosted the AMAs for the first time last year. She has received multiple Emmy nods for her work on ABC’s “black-ish.” The role has also earned her a Golden Globe award for best actress in a comedy series and a trio of NAACP Image Awards.

The American Music Awards is billed as the “world’s biggest fan-voted award show.”
