The 73rd annual Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival in Indio ends Sunday with a live mariachi performance from a Grammy-nominated troupe.
Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez has been playing, and breaking countless barriers, since their debut in 1981, the festival website said.
The group earned a Grammy nomination in the Best Mexican/Mexican American album in 2006, and has played all around world, including China and North Korea. “Mariachi Sol de Mexico embraces the romanticism of Mexico’s land, people, and beauty, sharing the culture wherever they go.”
The Mariachi band will play in the Fantasy Springs Concert Pavilion beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Tickets for the fair are $11 for adults, $10 for seniors and $9 for youth (kids ages 6 through 12). Children 5 and under get in free, along with veterans plus three guests with proper identification.
Admission includes access to all the musical events and Grandstand Area where a Demolition Derby will be hosted, in addition to a Monster Trucks and Freestyle MotoX show.
Carnival rides and fair food, as well as the sixth straight year of animal adoptions hosted by the Riverside County Department of Animal Service, will be in high demand as the fair wraps until next year.
