“Birds of Prey” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” earned top honors at the eighth annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards, which were presented during a “hybrid” ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The awards cover an array of film, television and theater categories, recognizing achievement in contemporary and period productions.

Oscar- and Emmy-winning makeup artist Matthew Mungle and Emmy-winning hair stylist Terry Baliel received MUAHS Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Meanwhile, comedian/actor Eddie Murphy — known for donning elaborate makeup and costumes to portray multiple characters in films such as “Coming to America” and “The Nutty Professor” — received a Distinguished Artisan Award, “celebrating the prolific spectrum of his versatile four-decade acting career on screen and television.” He was presented with the award by his “Coming to America” co-star, Arsenio Hall.
