Six-time Grammy winner Brandi Carlile will receive the “She Is Music” Award at the City of Hope’s 16th Annual Songs of Hope celebration, the hospital and cancer research center announced Monday.

The award recognizes the artist’s contributions to the music industry as a singer, songwriter, musician and producer. Judy Gerson, Universal Music Publishing Group chairman and CEO and co-founder of She Is Music, will present Carlile with the honor during the Thursday night celebration.

In addition to her six Grammys, Carlile is an author, philanthropist and recipient of Billboard’s Women in Music “Trailblazer Award” and CMT’s Next Woman of Country “Impact Award.” She was also recognized this year at the Americana Music Association Honors & Awards as “Artist of the Year.” In addition to Carlile’s solo career, she is also a member of country music group The Highwomen, and collaborated with superstars like Tanya Tucker, Alicia Keys and Dolly Parton.

During the virtual event, set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, honors will also be presented to other music industry dignitaries, while also highlighting City of Hope’s Department of Supportive Care Medicine and Division of Health Equities, which provide specialized cancer care to patients and families.

Honorees will include:

— Gracie Abrams and Blake Slakin with the “Facebook Songwriter Impact” Award;

— Smokey Robinson with the “Clive Davis’ Legend in Songwriting” Award;

— Hildur Guonadottir with the “EA Music Composer of the Year” Award;

— Daniel Nigro with the “Sony Music Publishing Creative Trailblazer” Award; and

— the late Pop Smoke with the “Warner Chappell’s Voice of Hope” Award.

Previous honorees include Jack Antonoff, Sarah Bareilles, Snoop Dogg and Stevie Wonder.

A portion of the funds raised at the 16th Annual Songs of Hope event will support the work of this year’s Beverly and Ben Horowitz Legacy Award recipient, Dr. Loretta Erhunwunsee, whose research seeks to eliminate health inequities among minority and under-resourced populations.
