Comedy superstars Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle will perform a special pop-up show at the Kia Forum Sunday to wrap up their 2022 U.S. tour.
The show will begin at 8:30 p.m.
Chappelle will be joined by musical special guest Blackstar — composed of Mos Def and Talib Kweli — his co-hosts on “The Midnight Miracle” podcast.
Both men have seen their share of controversy in 2022. Rock was assaulted and screamed at by actor Will Smith while presenting an award at this year’s Oscars after Smith took exception to a joke about his wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith.
Chappelle was also assaulted on stage at the Hollywood Bowl on May 3. A 24-year-old man later pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count each of battery and entering a restricted area during a live event, and was sentenced to 270 days in county jail.
That man remains behind bars in an unrelated case in which he is charged with stabbing his roommate at a transitional housing facility last year.
Chappelle also caused a stir with his opening monologue when he hosted NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” on Nov. 12. Chappelle issued a partial defense of rapper Ye — formally known as Kanye West — who was under fire for numerous antisemitic comments, and basketball star Kyrie Irving, who was suspended by the NBA for tweeting a link to a video considered antisemitic.
No cell phones, cameras or recording devices will be allowed at the show.
