About 1,200 Department of Water and Power customers lost electricity in downtown Los Angeles on Friday afternoon when a cross arm fell from a power pole and took out transmission lines.
The fire department reported the damage at 2:44 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Alameda Street, DWP spokeswoman Carol Tucker said.
Crews were working to make repairs, but no estimated time of restoration of service was available.
“It’s pretty complicated, because there are multiple circuits out,” Tucker said.
It’s unclear what caused the cross arm to fall, she said.
