A 49-year-old Burbank firefighter who passed away earlier this month will be laid to rest Thursday in Corona, and 150 members of the Burbank Fire Department will form a procession as they travel to his funeral services.
The procession for Ken Anderson, a 23-year firefighter/paramedic, will begin at 9:30 a.m., according to the Burbank Fire Department.
Anderson died on March 11, according to department spokesman Drew Sugars.
A union to which Anderson belonged, IAFF Local 228, stated on its website that Anderson died in the line of duty from “a stroke/cerebral hemorrhage.”
A visitation was held Wednesday evening at the Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona, according to the IAFF.
The funeral will be held at 12 p.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 417 W. Grand Blvd, Corona, CA 92882; phone 951-549-6000, the IAFF website continued.
Drivers and pedestrians are advised to expect delays in Burbank at East Orange Grove Avenue between North Glenoaks Boulevard and North Third Street, with road closures beginning at 8:30 a.m. as fire department vehicles assemble, Sugars said.
With so many department personnel participating in the funeral procession and attending the services, firefighters from surrounding departments will help staff stations in Burbank, he said.
