West Hollywood sex toy emporiums may be in for some really good economic times as a new market research report predicts a worldwide annual growth rate of almost 11 percent for erotic gadgets for women during the next few years.
“Aids such as dildos and vibrators help satisfy consumers’ sexual fantasies,” according to an economic study called “Global Female Sex Toys Market 2017-2021” by Research and Markets, an Irish firm that provides businesses around the world projections of future economic impacts for various industries.
Acceptance of sex practices that in the past may have been “viewed as perversion among people from most cultures, are also leading to increased exploration of sexuality, strengthening their (sex toy) demand in the market.” Those practices include homosexuality and interest in aspects of sadomasochism, according to the report.
“In addition, there is an increased penetration of online pornographic videos due to the fast improving Internet growth rate.”
According to the report, one of the major drivers for this market is consumer perspective. “Sexual experiences have long been overhyped and dramatized in most of the conventional societies. However, this has been changing as consumers are becoming more sexually empowered with increased awareness and a supportive environment.”
While sex toy stores have been established in many California communities and around the nation and world, some of them are particularly well known, such as Hustler Hollywood on the Sunset Strip that is associated with the famed magazine. And the Pleasure Chest and Chi Chi LaRue’s are both on Santa Monica Boulevard.
The report predicts the global female sex toys market to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.98 percent through 2021.
