A woman and three children were injured Thursday in a rollover crash near Santa Clarita.
The single-vehicle crash was reported about 4:10 p.m. on Soledad Canyon Road, east of Stonecrest Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 29-year-old Palmdale woman was driving a 2008 Volkswagen east on Soledad Canyon Road at 45-50 mph and allowed the vehicle to drift onto the right shoulder, according to the CHP.
She made a sharp turn to the left, causing her to lose control of the Volkswagen, which rotated counterclockwise as it traveled across the roadway before hitting a small dirt berm on the north shoulder, the CHP reported.
The Volkswagen overturned and ended up on its roof.
The woman was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered major injuries.
One of the children, a 4-year-old boy, also suffered major injuries in the crash.
Two other children, a 1-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy, sustained minor injuries, according to the CHP.
The three children, who had all been secured in the Volkswagen with safety equipment, were airlifted to a hospital and the woman was taken from the scene in an ambulance, a fire department dispatcher said.
