Authorities Monday identified a motorcyclist from Ventura County who was killed in a solo crash on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway near the Skirball Center in Brentwood.

James Lopez, 28, of Newbury Park died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 9:25 p.m. Sunday, according to the coroner’s office and the California Highway Patrol.

“For unknown reasons, the rider lost control of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to fall onto the roadway, which ejected the rider onto the roadway,” according to a CHP statement. “Alcohol and drugs don’t appear to be a factor at this time.”

The HOV and the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes were closed for about four hours while an investigation was conducted.
