A 3-year-old boy has been critically injured after being ejected from his car seat in a two-vehicle crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Sylmar.

A 6-year-old girl, 12-year-old boy and two women, 42 and 27, were also injured in the crash, and their conditions range from serious to fair, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. All patients were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The crash was reported about 2:10 p.m. on the eastbound transition road to the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway, Stewart said.

The eastbound Foothill Freeway was closed to traffic at Yarnell Street.
