A small brush fire blackened about one-quarter acre of grass Sunday in Brentwood before firefighters were able to extinguish it.
The slow-moving blaze near 1541 N. Casale Road, near an unoccupied Boy Scout camp close to the ridge line, was reported at 7:41 p.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
The department sent 61 firefighters to the scene and used several water drops to knock down the flames in about an hour and 20 minutes, Stewart said.
Firefighters remained at the scene to cut a fire line and mop up any flare-ups, she said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
