A person was struck and killed Thursday morning on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina.

Reports of a person being hit and the body lying in the No. 1 lane of the freeway near the Azusa Avenue exit began coming in to the California Highway Patrol about 4:30 a.m.

It was unclear what led to up to the person being struck. Information on the person’s identity was not immediately available.

All lanes of the eastbound freeway at Azusa Avenue were closed while an investigation was conducted. The No. 5 lane was reopened about 5:15 a.m., and the remaining lanes were reopened about two hours afterward, the CHP said.
