A retirement-age man suffered minor smoke exposure Wednesday evening in a fire at a senior living facility in Van Nuys.
The fire was reported about 7:20 p.m. at California Villa Retirement, located at 6728 Sepulveda Blvd., near Vanowen Street, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Forty-six fire personnel were at the scene to provide comfort and evaluate occupants, who self-evacuated, Humphrey said.
The man who suffered minor smoke exposure declined ambulance transport, and no other injuries were reported, according to Humphrey.
The two-story facility is being searched to ensure all occupants are safe, and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
