Priscilla Presley spoke out Wednesday about her grandson Benjamin Keogh’s July 12 suicide, saying his loss devastated her family.
Benjamin Keough, the son of Lisa Marie Presley and musician Danny Keough and grandson of Elvis Presley, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the morning of July 12 in Calabasas. He was 27.
“These are some of the darkest days of my family’s life,” his grandmother wrote in a Twitter and Facebook posting. “The shock of losing Ben has been devastating. Trying to put all the pieces together of all the possible whys has penetrated my soul.”
Lisa Marie Presley’s manager has said that she is “completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter, Riley. She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”
Priscilla Presley wrote: “Each day I wake up I pray it will get better. Then, I think of my daughter and the pain she is going through as she was a doting mother. Ben’s father, Danny, who is completely lost, as Ben was his only son. Riley, so loving and so close to him; (half-sisters) Harper and Finley, who absolutely adored Ben.”
She also said her son, musician Navarone Garibaldi, “struggles deeply” with the loss of his nephew, and closed by writing, “Rest In Peace Ben, you were loved.”
