Two trucks crashed head-on Tuesday morning south of Winchester, closing southbound state Route 79 and snarling traffic.

The crash was reported about 7 a.m. near Garbini Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

An ambulance was called to the scene, but injury information was not immediately clear.

A Nissan truck and a Ford F-150 involved in the crash rolled over after colliding, the CHP said.

Construction nails were scattered on both sides of the roadway prior to the crash, according to the CHP.

There was no word on when the southbound lanes would reopen, although the CHP said traffic was being diverted through the shoulder.
