A 63-year-old mountain bicyclist sustained a serious leg injury while riding in Topanga State Park and was rescued Tuesday evening by Los Angeles firefighters.
Ground and air personnel responded to East Topanga Fire Road, near Palisades Drive, about 9:40 p.m. and located the injured bicyclist, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
About 10:25 p.m., paramedics were preparing the man to be hoisted aboard a hovering fire department helicopter. Once onboard, the man would receive “in-flight care during direct transport to a regional trauma center,” Humphrey said.
It was unclear how the man became injured. His name was not disclosed.
