A 49-year-old woman was killed when her minivan was rear-ended by a car on the eastbound Artesia (91) Freeway in Bellflower, the California Highway Patrol reported Monday.
Arnie Espiritu of San Pedro was driving a Toyota Sienna, which had come to a stop in traffic lanes for an unknown reason, when it was rear ended by a Toyota Solara, according to the CHP and the coroner’s office. Espiritu, who remained seated her vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash, according to the CHP.

The driver of the Solara, 34-year-old Saul Solorzano of Azusa, suffered minor injuries, complaining of pain to his chest and right ankle. Both drivers wore seat belts.
