A 25-year-old man died Friday morning when he was struck by a vehicle on the Hollywood (101) Freeway, then dragged about a mile away in the East Hollywood area.

Authorities were called about 4:50 a.m. to North Ardmore Avenue near Melrose Avenue, where they found a pedestrian lying in the road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Joshua Gray, of Long Beach is believed to have been struck by a vehicle on the southbound 101 at Fountain Avenue, then dragged about a mile to the 700 block of North Ardmore, CHP said in news release.

Authorities were investigating the crash, and working to determine whether an earlier two-vehicle crash on the freeway played a role.
