Two sheriff’s deputies were recovering in the hospital Sunday after an Amazon delivery truck slammed into a sheriff’s patrol vehicle that was responding to another crash, killing two other people.
The fatal crash was reported at 7:34 p.m. Saturday on Van Buren Boulevard at 56th Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP, which was investigating the crash, said that the force of the impact from the Amazon delivery truck pushed a sheriff’s patrol vehicle into four people at the scene of another collision, including two deputies.
The two pedestrians who were killed died at the scene and were not law enforcement officers. They have not yet been publicly identified.
The CHP said the deputies who were injured are expected to survive.
Further information about the circumstances surrounding the crash was not immediately available.
