A vacant, single-story house in South Los Angeles was destroyed by flames and a firefighter was injured Wednesday.
The fire was reported at 5:25 p.m. at 4010 S. Main St., near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange.
“Firefighters engaged in a defensive battle from the exterior against a vacant one-story home engulfed in flames,” Prange said. “It took 44 firefighters 30 minutes to fully extinguish the fire.”
One firefighter suffered a hand injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment, he said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, Prange said. The home had burned before, he said.
